Automotive Vehicle Painter

The Jim Click Collision Center at 22nd and Wilmot has an immediate opening for Automotive Vehicle Painter/Painters Helper.

POSITION SUMMARY:
Operates cone, disk, or nozzle-type electrostatic painting equipment to spray
negatively charged paint particles onto positively charged work pieces.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
1. Inspects painted units for runs, sags, and unpainted areas.
2. Makes certain all vehicles arriving in paint shop, are accompanied with paper work.
3. Mixes paint according to specifications, using viscometer to regulate consistency according to changes in atmospheric conditions.
4. Hand-sprays unpainted areas and applies rust preventative when needed.
5. Checks body work prior to starting vehicle prep.
6. Preps vehicle correctly on every job, (double check sanding, priming, and taping).
7. Wears respirator when sanding or priming.
8. Moves switches and dials to start flow current and to activate conveyer and paint spraying equipment.
9. Turns valves and observes pressure control gauges to set pressure and to control flow of paint to each spray station.
10. Adjusts thermostat to maintain specified temperature in paint tanks.
11. Readjusts pressure valves to control direction and pattern of spray and to correct flaws in coating.
12. Cleans paint from ceiling and walls of booth, conveyor hooks or grid, and from disks, cones, spray heads, hoes, using solvent and appropriate brushes.
13. Recognizes when PPE or additional safety precautions are needed.
